I just went to a blog about La Françafrique. This is shorthand for the history of France making Africa its personal sphere of influence, manipulating leaders, formenting coups, etc. Basically like the US in Latin America.

It's ironic how France has been doing this thing for about 40 years, ever since African countries gained independence. But now, the blogosphere acts like these are new 'revelations.'

(A western country letting oil influence its foreign policy? Shocking I say!)

It's also interesting how the administration is delyaing a Security Council resolution on Ivory Coast (see my blog for more details). Coincidentally, of course, the resolution in being pushed by France.

We'll see if Pres. Bush adheres to his own principles or, as some would have, lets Ivorians be sacrificed on the altar of anti-French snivelling.

Not worthy?! Inconceivable!!
