Hillary Insensitive To Race? (Rosemary)

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton apologized for joking that Mahatma Gandhi used to run a gas station in St. Louis, saying it was "a lame attempt at humor."

Give me a break. Does anyone honestly believe she wasn't trying to be funny?

The PC police are complaining that she was fueling a stereotype. Okay. Fine. Whatever. Should we make her crawl across broken glass and beg forgiveness?

It was a lame attempt at humor. It wouldn't have worked here. Most gas stations around here are owned by ....

Ha! Thought I was gonna say something bad didn't ya!

I give the PC police enough ammo.

I don't think that public figures are allowed to make jokes anymore. After all, isn't the number one goal in life not to ever offend anyone for any reason?

*sarcasm mode disabled*

Hillary is definitely sick. Here she is born 3 months before M. Gandhi is assassinated in January 1948 and here we are now and she is telling us jokes about him being a gas station operator. Whatwonderful wisdom from the Senator from New York state.

Hillary would've been one of the first people to jump all over a Republican politician making the same lame joke, so she gets to eat the incredibly over-reacting standards that she lives by.

If a normal person had said it, they'd have gotten a normal amount of slack. Hillary gives no slack, so she gets none.

Yes, Eight years as wife of Arkansas governor and eight years as wife of President of USA...And she is purported to be the most brilliant woman in America.

Sorry, no excuses this time.

I say cut her some slack and keep this on file in the opposition research archives. If her opponent makes a gaffe and she's unreasonable, its becomes relevant but blowing up about it now doesn't get you anywhere. She blew it, her bad. If she cvilized from here on in when others blow it its worth giving her a pass.

You mean her prior career was *reasonable*? :)

Those who sow the wind....Hillary is just hoist upon the petard of the PC she and her ilk have allowed to infect the American scene....maybe now she'll think a bit?

Yeah, I know...thats a belly-laugh; no, she'll make some mewling apology and then look for the first chance she can get to be in the next PC lynch mob....

Here in the Detroit Metro region, we wouldn't joke about such a thing.

After all, only Arabs own gas stations and party stores. I mean, really now....

Dean,

The word 'Texaco' is racist?

While Mark's post was funny:"she'll make some mewling apology and then look for the first chance she can get to be in the next PC lynch mob...." it begs a question:

Has Hillary ever apologized or responded to anything that catches the public's attention?

Feel free to see how I labeld he in my comment about Dean's loaded mysogyny question.
Sadly no one in the "real" media will ever have anything to say about this.
Too bad Trent Lott didnt say it I guess or we would have days of coverage in front of us.

Hillary should leave humor to the professionals.

Not only is she insensitive and ignorant, if she had told the truth, i.e., that Jacques Chirac was a soda jerk at Howard Johnsons's, nobody would have believed her!
