Clearing the Air

I see comments now and then that are starting to disturb me.

Dean's World started when my friend Jerry Kindall got tired of all the emails I used to send to friends like him on social, political, scientific, and related matters. He said I needed a weblog, and set one of up for me. Best gift anyone ever gave me.

This blog was going about six months before my wife posted her first message. She has averaged 2-3 postings per month (as opposed to my average of 2-3 per day) in all the time since then, although she's been more active lately.

I'm utterly fine with that, but there are some comments I've seen lately that somehow I am "overshadowing" my wife, ignoring her, diminishing her contributions, implying even that this should be "Dean and Rosemary's World." Someone even suggested that she stop putting her name in parentheses after what she posts, since she's an equal part of this weblog.

Well, while I don't have a problem with anything my wife does here, I am upset by the insinuation that I sideline my wife. This is my blog, and since she's an important part of my life, she takes part in it and helps take up the slack when I'm busy. I've offered to set her up her own blog many times and she doesn't want one. She just enjoys playing with mine. Which is fabulous; I can't imagine doing this if she didn't enjoy it and support it.

I merely wish to repeat that I do not appreciate insinuations that I somehow ignore, dismiss, or overshadow her. (Not that I could if I wanted to, with a mouth like that.)

Ok, so pass along the names and we'll bitch-slap the people who are saying that.....

Geesh!

Good point Dean. Just because one is married doesn't mean one must include ones partner in on everything. Indeed it's quite healthy for partners to have activities or hobbies that have nothing to do with thier signficant other. However, if a wife takes an interest in something her husband claims as her own it's fine for her to be involved if the husband is comfortable with it. That doesn't mean said husband must officaly hand over to her equal rights. It's his hobby afterall. And, this is "Dean's World".

This is just a strange observation. When Rosemary was doing her usual 2-3 posts a month, and putting her name in parenthesis after the post title, it seemed that every time, some people would mistakingly think it was you (Dean) posting. Now, lately she has been neglecting the name in parenthesis (perhaps for aesthetic reasons since she was posting tons of stuff in your stead for a few days) and I can't recall one instance where anyone mistook her for you (Dean). This might be merely because she announced she would be picking up the slack for you, but I'm not sure...

Well actually I think Rick did it to me once. It's no big deal, but...

Dean,

I am the one who suggested to Rosemary that she not put her name in parentheses after posts. I think everyone that comes here these days knows both of you contribute to this site (at least fairly equally over the past couple months.)

I didn't in any way mean to imply that she was being ignored, overshadowed, etc. I justy told her that I didn't think it was necessary because everyone knows she posts here anyway.

Sorry if there was an implication of you in there. It was not intentional.

Well, there are some people int his world, who are always seeing examples of women being oppressed, the poor being exploited and so on, even when the evidence does not support it. Self-hating American leftists are especially talented when it comes to this sort of thing.
So, pay it no mind- there always will be people living their delusional leftist lives.
You are doing nothing wrong, so, let the stupid folks revel in their stupidity.

Oh, it's no big deal, Michael. I've just seen a few such implications a few times in the last month and it's been happening often enough I decided it was time to say something.

My baby can do whatever she wants here, though.

I have to say that since I took Michael's suggestion - nobody mistook me for Dean, yet.

Maybe it's because our writing style is so different but mostly I think people can tell I'm just more looney than Dean.

I like playing here with our friends. As Dean mentioned, he offered me my own blog and I turned him down. I prefer playing with Dean.

When or if I'm ready for my own blog - I'll just stage a coup! ;-)

Does anyone think I should still put my name in my post title?

My $0.02 - If Dean and Rosemary are happy, I'm happy.

I think you should keep your name in the post title. It makes it easier to spot the good stuff. ;-)

Seriously though you've written stuff under Dean's login before. So if you forget that you logged in as Dean and didn't add the (Rosemary) to it, it'll cause confusion. Imagine if Dean all the sudden started making sense? ;-)

Its Dean's World, all non-Dean submitted articles should be marked as such.

Liars. Rosemary has been duped by your kindness and does not recognize that she is the result of thousands of years of male oppression. Her happiness is a clue to her confusion. If she realized how horrible her life really is, and the fate of women all women, she wouldn't be so damned happy.

I bet you pump gas in the car when you're out with her, offer to open jars, or carry the heavy loads of groceries into the house.

You pig, Dean.

;)

This blog is oppressive to wymyn. But, even so...
Hail to the Queen of All Evil!

I like it when I see "(Rosemary)" next to a post.

Dunno, really can't say why, if Dean and Rose aren't too concerned. :)

I must say that "Queen of All Evil" has a nice ring to it, though...

Hey! I *like* reading Rosemary's posts. Usually. Whatever you're okay with, I'm okay with.
