HE WAS A SOLDIER AND I LOVE HIM

He had great big arms that held me tight
when I would get scared in the middle of the night.

He walked me to school and taught me the Golden Rule.

I learned the Pledge Of Allegiance, and he made sure I held my arm across my heart for proper reasons.

I loved reading and oh how he did too! He could tell you a story that would make you turn Blue!

HE WAS A SOLDIER AND I LOVED HIM!

My Father served in WWII and I wanted to shared just a bit more with you...
He is in heaven now and he still holds me tight in the middle of the night.

Of his three children, God honored me in having the first grandson my Father could call his own. My son was named after him and as my Father held him to his chest, I saw a tender tear, as he sincerely proclaimed, "He will be one of America's Best!"

Years went by and to watch those two, my oh my. Absolutely beautiful! My Father was a tremendous writer. I better stop. I am going to cry!

Another son came along a few years later and my Father said, "He will make us Proud one Day!" Well, this son was born miles away but my Fathers influence did not pass him by!

He was right. One son is a writer and is well on his way to what my FATHER had to say.

His other Grandson is protecting Our Borders.

So today I would like to finish and say.

MY DAD WAS A SOLDIER...ONE OF AMERICAS BEST...HE LEFT BEHIND WHAT HE FOUGHT FOR AND HIS DREAMS.

AND I TOO WANT TO THANK GOD FOR THE VETERANS, AND THE RED WHITE AND BLUE.

Janelle

You are a real sweetie. I love reading your comments...always upbeat, positive and encouraging. My dad was in the Navy in WWII..
didn't have to go - he was over 40. He came back safe and sound. My husband served in Viet Nam returning for two tours (each voluntarily).
I met him in the Army Reserves where I served as well. I had no brothers but all my nephews have served on active duty. I'm very proud of the men in my family...all served their country willingly.

All these tributes to our veterans today have made me have wet eyes and a lump in my throat.
I weep for those lost in battle or ambush and pray for all those still standing and serving.
God bless our men. We love 'em.

I thank my late father (who fought the Nazis in World War II) and all of the brave men and women who gave or risked their lives to keep us free.
