I don't know if people realize this, but, my "Blogspot Jihad" offer is still active. I will, completely free of charge, set up anyone who is currently on BlogSpot with their own domain name (i.e.: yournamhere.com) and Movable Type-based weblog. I will do so for the sole reason that I'm tired of the fact that some great online writers are stuck on a service (BlogSpot) which is often down, often unreliable, and whose archives and perma-links often don't work.
So far I've converted something like 70 former Blogspotters to Movable Type. I'll still do so, free of charge, for anyone (besides avowed racists and trolls) who asks. No, your politics are not my issue--in fact, I've already converted quite a few people who I disagree with quite vehemently on many political issues. I'm less concerned with your politics than I am with getting good writers off of Blogspot.
As I say, I've already done about 70 BlogSpotters. I've honestly lost track of all of them. But recent converts (who are also now on my blogroll) include:
The Patriette
The Alarming News
The King of the Geeks
It Tastes Like Burning
I'm quite positive that there are others I've forgotten--and if I have forgotten you, please, don't get your feelings hurt, but drop me a note so I can be sure to put you on my blogroll.
Yes, if you think I'm a big butthead, that's okay. You're probably right. But if you want off of BlogSpot, I'm still here to help you. I want to help good writers get off of BlogSpot and into their own domains, and that's all I want to do. So if you know a good blog author who needs to get a better hosting service, please have them drop me a line--or leave a comment here. Ditto if I've helped you set up your own blog but forgot to add you to my blogroll.
Oh, and by the way? If you don't like me and you want someone else to help you get off of BlogSpot, you should click here, because there are others who'll help you make the transition to a better world.
Friends don't let friends use BlogSpot!
Does this offer apply for LiveJournal users?
I'm just curious.
Yeah, sure, why not? Shoot me a note.
This is true. Dean converted me and helped me out when I screwed it up.
It's easy when you know how. Hell, nuclear physics is easy when you know how. It's things I don't know how to do that give me trouble.
Dean, you made me the blogger I am today. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
What a generous offer...
Huh. Ya know, I think I've had problems with blogger all of one time in two years. It's perfectly fine. I tried using MT's online hosted Typepad service, on the other hand, and found the user interface so clunky and unworkable that I went screaming back to Blogspot.
And it's friggin' expensive compared to Blog*Spot, especially now that Blogspot offers most of its formerly Pro utilities for free. Moveable Type is limited in that you must FTP all your stuff. Doing that on your lunch hour from behind a firewall protected work computer is not an option.
Blog*Spot has done fine by me so far. I see no reason to change.
I hope you didn't forget me?
I can attest to the fact that Dean does great work.
You're definitely on my blogroll, Starhawk!
Does one have to covert to get help. Is there anything you can do for a newbie?
