Jerkwads II
Just got an email from Michele Catalano, telling me that the attack was aimed at one site. It appears to be a pro-Israeli site, commenting on and reporting on activities in the middle east
Well. Now what do you know about that?
Oh, you can bet I'll mention it...
Consider it passed on. And thank you for the update.
Asshats.
I think this is going to become more common in the blogosphere as the election heats up. One would expect leftie kiddie scripters to pull this kind of shit.
Dear feste,
I was about to say something to Lisa English about her crack about the "right" [sic], and stereotypical attitudes about the opposition, when I saw your post.
Just how do you justify calling them leftie kiddie scripters? (or even kiddie scripters; ever consider that there are Arabic hackers out there?)
I respectfully submit that your post is just as divisive, and as inaccurate, as Lisa's.
It's getting really bad when folks on both sides can't wait to sling mud at each other at the slightest provocation.
Those damn south-paws, always messing up our servers.
Casey: Sorry but I'm confused...I shouldn't leap to the conclusion that this might have been lefties, but you offer Arabs as the scapegoat du jour?
Have you grazed the Democrat Underground's website lately...they are discussing arming themsleves and starting a revolution. Too funny...the gun grabbers asking how to get a carry permit. Sure it's bombast, but flooding and DOS attacks would be an alternative against sites they perceive as the "opposition".
As to kiddie scripters...even my dog could craft a DOS...there are plenty of sites with instructions....real hackers...the ones to worry about would be hitting our power grid, telecom hubs, Air Control or banking system NOCs...not a blogger.
BTW-In case you haven't noticed Arab terrorists prefer C4.
feste: considering that the (apparent) target was a pro-Israeli site, wouldn't you consider Arab hackers a reasonable possibility? This has nothing to do with "(whatever) du jour," than with motive, method, and opportunity.
I'm not sure how the Democratic Underground site fits in? (btw, I am reminded of the old saying "there will be no revolutions in Germany, since revolutions are strictly outlawed in Germany." Heh) Have they, perhaps, actually said somewhere in their site that they intend to perform various web attacks? Or are you just forwarding the claim that they might?
If the latter, I fail to see how this addresses my original remark: that there has been some awful "instant-assumption" and name-calling going on around here on both sides, even on just this thread. And yes, air-controls systems are vulnerablt, but (I repeat) how does this address my original remark? Are you not interested in following the thread, or would you just prefer to throw out red herrings that obfuscate things?
BTW, thanks for the update{GGG}, but I was talking about Arab hackers, not Arab terrorists. :)
Casey,
DOS attacks imply script kiddies. Real hackers, Arab or otherwise, have better things to do, and better ways to do it.
Juvenile (acting) Israel haters imply leftist sympathies. Right leaning folks are not typically Israel haters.
Lefties exist, and they are not ashamed to be called lefties, for the most part. Right Wing Death Beasts (if I may flatter myself) exist as well. I personally don't view this stuff as name calling, nor do I consider it provocative.
Lisa is a self admitted leftie, and a lot of the folks who hang out here are not. So what's the big deal?
Chill out guys.
It was the jihadis that did it. The site's proprietor left a comment at LGF. I've know of his site for quite some time, and I must say that I'm VERY surprised that this is the first major DOS attack he's had.
His site specializes in finding and taking down (via pressuring the hosting companies) the terrorist sites put up by al Qaida and associates as well as Hamas and their associates.
