My New Other Hero

For those of you who missed the weekend, a few days ago I wrote about my new hero, Glenn Sacks. I highly recommend that everyone who cares about men to read his columns. They're dynamite, and they overturn a lot of far-too-prevalent myths. Over the weekend I got some email from him, and he let me know that he now has a radio show being syndicated in Seattle/Tacoma and Los Angeles: His Side with Glenn Sacks. I haven't heard his show, but I hope it spreads far and wide from there.

As a result of posting about him, I also heard from Trudy W. Schuett, who runs the fabulous Desert Light Journal weblog, which is devoted to advocacy of men's issues. Its refreshing tagline reads: "A woman needs a man like a fish needs the river."

You should also see her Desert Light Home Page.

Bravo, Trudy. You're on my blogroll as of right now.

(I know some of you righties are probably rolling your eyes and thinking that this is just more whining from another "victim group." Some of you lefties are just snorting and saying this is crap. But I urge you, strongly, to shed your preconceptions and read what I've linked. No matter what your political outlook, you will probably be surprised.)

I had a "re-education" at my College orientation in 1990. The instructor cited this myth specifically. "One in four college women has been the victim of rape or attempted rape"-(From G Sacks)

I remember this because she had me sit while she stood over me about 1" away to demonstrate how girls can be intimidated and date-raped. Even at 18 I could see what crap this was, and I would have walked out, but this was a mandatory "orientation".
