Barney The Dinosaur Is A Texan!!! (Rosemary)
Dean said, "So tell me my friend: did any music worthy of Barney the Dinosaur ever come out of De-troit? Go on I dare ya: tell me all about it!"
I wondered why Dean would want to judge music by Barney standards, didn't you?
Barney was a Texan!!!
"A six-foot purple dinosaur, Barney is the star of the children's TV show Barney and Friends. Barney began in 1987 as the star of direct-sale videos created by Dallas teacher Sheryl Leach. The tapes caught the eye of the Public Broadcasting System, who put Barney and Friends on the air in 1992. "
Barney may live in Dallas, but all of his relative left their footprints in our riverbed down here in Glen Rose. After all Barney was not the first dinosaur in Texas, and may not be the last ... I heard a rumor his little green companion is preggers. ;)
Sadly, I knew that. In fact, the first generation had Texas kids in it. (The twins are 12 and we have first generation tapes). There was another rarely shown Texas PBS show (Gerber?) with a puppet and a kid and the kid was Michael from Barney before he hit it big on Barney.
Finally, some use for that knowledge!
I grew up in Oklahoma and I have always suspected that Barney was a Texan.
Barney is evil...
actually, the newer shows are still filmed near Dallas. I was working with a close friend in Fort Worth whose daughter was in the final stages of tryouts for this season's filming when he found out they were going to be moving to Scotland for PhD work. She was heartbroken, but decided to forego her chance at kid fame.
The shows used to be taped near my home here in Allen, TX. I think they are taped in Los Colinas now.
yeah, the horse place for the noveau riche. :-)
I thought they hanged people in Texas for crimes like that. Where are the Texas Rangers when you really need 'em?
give sum pics dat are animated actually give sum pics
Though Barney is male, he is purple and voluptuously curvy, and I don't think Texans generally like that sort of thing,- s I think you must be mistaken.

Its about time people recognize where Barney is from...i have to admit i am not a fan of the show anymore. I lived in Allen TX where Barney was first started and i remember pretty vividly the first version of the show from watching it while i baby sat. I personally would love to see the old version of the show come back. Im appauld to see what they have done to the show. It used to be fairly entertaining while also educational. I cant help but notice that these newer episodes (well not so much newer as the episodes that occured after the show was moved out of Allen) to me it seems as tho they are talking down to children who are watching the show and it just seems so numbing. The old shows had a plot and storyline and just plain were more interesting.
I think that Barney is a great figure for the kids to looe up to. He teached them so much about life, manners, and how to learn in fun ways, my 4 year old cousin knows his colors and how to count, and no one heas taught him. Barney is great.
