Four Color Hell

Michele has started a wonderful new site for adult fans of comic books: Four-Color Hell. I'm envious. I've never stopped loving comic books--ever--but at some point, my wallet and my time were squeezed too much, something had to give, and comics were it. Oh, but one day baby, I'll be back.

In the meantime, she's also looking for contributors, so you might want to drop by and see what she's up to.

Brother, I feel your pain. I had a 20-comic a week habit at one time, but as you can imagine, that got real expensive, tho not as fast as you'd think.

I'd still sell my soul for a copy of MIRACLEMAN #13.

Miracleman #13? Yeah, I've got that issue.

But sorry to say, it ain't for sale. ;)

I was talking with a 20-year-old friend of mine who didn't know that the Teenaged Ninja Mutant Turtles were originally a B&W comic. :)

Then I had fun explaining -after we watched the new Daredevil movie- how much stuff from TNMT was lifted from Frank Miller's Daredevil run, as well as a tip o' the hat to the Marvel Mutant X-Men craze.

Paul: do you have the (what?) six or eight month run when Miller came back to DD around issue 226 or so? That's when Miller basically (through the Kingpin) wrecked Murdock's life, and turned him into a Christian. Heh.

Casey, the few Daredevil issues I've got are mostly ones I bought as a kid, back in the early to mid 1960s. Without digging through boxes upstairs at this hour of the night, I remember the earliest had DD still in a yellow-and-black costume-- gee, the issue number that pops into my mind is something like #8 or #9. I think fighting against the Ox, the Eel, and somebody else-- someone lifting up a steel safe on the front cover? Probably got it at Rhyme's Drugstore in Portage, Wisconsin, after getting a haircut at the barbershop next door.

Or is the front cover I'm seeing in my mind's eye from an issue of Spider-Man from back around that same period? At this time of the night, after a long hour spent wrestling with the latest damn malfunctioning Norton Anti-Virus product update, my mind is fried and anything is possible...
