Templates?

Anyone any good with MT templates?

For some reason I can't figure out, my monthly templates don't look right. When you go to them directly, they sometimes work right and sometimes don't. But if you look over there on the right, you'll find that if you click on a monthly archive, then scroll back from month to month, the system defaults to the old-school Movable Type templates. I have no idea why, because I haven't changed the templates at all, and they didn't used to do that.

I've recently upgraded to MT 2.6.4 to see if that would fix it, but it didn't change anything.

Have you tried to rebuild all the indexes completely? Most of the time that is the miracle cure for MT.

I was just going to suggest the same thing. Click on rebuild, and rebuild the monthly archives.

Are you sure that the old versions are not cached on your browser? Try eliminating the cache, and then refreshing.

Yeah, did a complete rebuild last night, and yeah, I cleared my browser cache.

Weird, huh? My copy of MT is registered but I couldn't afford the $45 to get the tech support, so I can't as the Trotts for help.

Dean,

Here's something you might want to try. FTP in and delete all the monthly archive files that are not showing up properly. (From 2003_04.html backwards.) Then try a rebuild all.

Very intelligent suggestion, Susan. Unfortunately, that didn't work either.

This is really weird. I guess it's not all that important, but I wish I understood it.

Gosh...that is weird! **shrug**

Interesting.

So if you've deleted and rebuilt the actual archives - do you have more than the one date based archive template floating around out there?

If you can take a look into the database, specifically the templates table, it might be a good idea to 'take a look' under that hood.

Another idea might be to point the archives output to a totally different folder, do the rebuild, and see if the come up dorked again.

put your date based template into a text file, zip it up and mail it, and I'll be happy to look it over with a third set of eyes for ya...

Wind Rider rules!

I still had some of the old templates floating around there. I thought they were unreferenced and unused, so I all but forgot about them. I nuked 'em, and did a rebuild, and now all is well!

Thank you so much for all the ideas, guys!

My pleasure...
