Gerald Posner and Peace

Gerald Posner, who is one very sharp guy and a credit to the Democratic Party, has an excellent excellent essay comparing yesterday's peace protestors to today's. Give it a read. I can't think of a single thing he says that isn't both historically accurate and worth contemplating. (And thanks to William Jordan for sending it to me.)

Dean,

This man's name is very interisting. There was a "Gerald Posner" who was the Soviet Union's spokesman in America during the end of the Cold War. He appeared on Phil Donahue's show often when Phil could still get some ratings.

That's why Phil couldn't get any ratings this time around.

I suppose it's possible it's the same guy, although I kind of doubt it.

Posner wrote what is considered by many the definitive debunking of the Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories: Case Closed, in which he refutes most conspiracy claims and comes to the simple conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone, shot and killed the President.

No Dean, it is not. The Posner I mentioned was going bald in the 1980's. He also spoke both English and Russian without foreign accents in either language. I wonder if the young man is related to him in some way.
