Hoist By Their Own Petain

Last week I meant to tell you all about Bigwig's hilarious History of French Military Campaigns. Then the Wall Street Journal ran it, uncredited, and I wrote to Bigwig about it. The matter was cleared up, and Bigwig was firmly established as the true author of the piece. So now I recommend it to you. Because damn it's funny.

I posted this a couple of days ago - on my "left-wing" site. And I felt cheap. I got it in an e-mail and didn't know it came from this site but CANNOT believe it was published in the WSJ, which, last time I looked was not a tabloid.

Parts of this list are funny but much of it is deeply offensive.

How would we feel if we read a list of American military failures. Especially if it was used to say, what, we are cowards and should have finished the job in Vietnam?

Please don't say the list isn't as long and ignore the obvious fact.

Oh, bugger off, dimn. I think it's hysterical, even if they did leave out a couple of points more in France's favor. Go be offended somewhere else. And take your smelly cheese with you.

What's really funny is that the author is, strictly speaking, telling the truth. He didn't make any of that stuff up.

As for a list of American defeats, go for it! Just be as accurate as Bigwig was, ok?
