The Rosemary saga continues. On Monday, her routine hernia operation turned into major surgery, and what we thought would be an outpatient procedure turned into a four day in-hospital ordeal. We brought her home Thursday afternoon, but her oral pain medication was both insufficient to keep down the pain and caused severe intestinal discomfort.

By around 8 pm she began to be unable to reliably keep anything down. By 4 am it was so bad we had to rush her back to the hospital. The doctors are keeping her for the weekend, and I'm here at work, blogging and whatnot between calls, as usual.

She should be okay, but it's been an exhausting week for her. Less so for me, but it hasn't been wonderful on my end. Especially since Jake's been down with a bad cold, and I've been fighting with this horrible excuse for a teacher at my university. Thank God for Rose's mom, or my week would have been completely unmanageable.

In other news, a new friend recently bought me a Yiddish Cheeseburger. Which was the highpoint of my week so far. But hey, at least it was nice. Rose's high point was when they finally put her on morphine. :-(
