Rosemary Hospitalized

On Monday afternoon, Rosemary went to Botsford hospital in Farmington Hills for a routine surgery to fix a hernia. She expected to be home that night, with a small chance for having to stay overnight if there were complications.

When the surgeon opened her up he found massive scar tissue from a previous surgery and a far worse hernia than expected.

He said it was the worst hernia situation he'd ever seen. To make repairs, he had to cut out a huge amount of tissue and use special materials just to patch up the remaining muscle tissue. She may, if she's lucky, make it home on Thursday.

She's had surgery twice before this, but nothing this bad. She assures me that giving birth to Jake was far less painful and traumatic than what she's undergoing right now.

She is not interested in visitors and finds talking physically painful, so is not particularly interested in phone calls. However, I'll be happy to convey any messages anyone would like to write to her here, they may cheer her up. I'll print 'em out, so feel free.

Rose:

Please get well soon. We're hoping you can come to our next tea party...

surfed in from a small victory and it looks like we are neighbors. (MI also, very close to FH) just wanted to wish Rosemary a speedy recovery.

I'm so sorry. Here's hoping for the best and speediest of recoveries, ease of pain, and a happy future in which this is only a faint memory.

Rosemary: Godspeed, and enjoy the vacation, if you can [wry grin].

Oh, don't let your disinclination for conversation allow Dean to get a big head or anything. We all know where the brains of the family are. :)

Hey Dean, I'm also hopping over from asmallvictory. I hope Rosemary is feeling better and out of the hospital soon. And don't forget to sneak her "real food". Nothing worse than being stuck in the hospital with their nasty food!

Rosemary, I hope you're feeling better soon. And I'm keeping you and Dean and Jake in my prayers...

Rosemary, get well soon so Dean doesn't screw things up around the house too badly! My prayers are with you.

Rose,

I am sorry to hear about this. I hope you get well soon.

Goodness, you two need to stay out of the hospital!

Rosemary, all my best for a very speedy recovery and good pain pills. :)

Rosemary, so sorry to hear your surgery was more complicated than expected. You are in my prayers and may you recover quickly and with as little pain as possible. *cyberhug*

Rosemary - I do hope you are on the mend soon. I have to have similar surgery myself soon (or when the NHS queue reaches me, which will probably be months and months) so I shall be watching for your recovery with special awareness!

Good luck and get well soon!

I also read about this at A Small Victory.

I hope Rosemary recovers soon and that no further complications set in. Good fortune to you all.

Hi Dean,

I'm sorry. Is Rosemary your wife. Grandma said something about just a biopsy and your little girl? is just too cute answering the telephone.

Hi Jerry, and thanks. No, you talked to my son, I don't have a daughter as yet. Rose had more than a biopsy, but I'm sure they biopsied some of the extracted tissue because that's just standard procedure.

Everyone will be pleased to know she's home now, although still, I'm sorry to say, quite miserable. The girl's been through a lot. :-(
