Approve the re-nominated Judges Pickering, Owen, et. al.
Why? Because it is a happy day. Orrin Hatch is now Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Now, now before anyone gets their panties in a ruffle: I know that the official change of hands won't happen until the Missouri election is certified and Talent is sworn in. But as we all know, Jean Carnahan will not return for the very busy lame duck session, because Talent was elected to finish her hubby's term and takes his seat as soon as the election is certified.
These fine judicial nominees will certainly approved by the Judiciary Committee. But they will probably face more Democrat stalling tactics.
I read a Los Angeles Times column, yester day November 14, written by UCLA law professor Edwin Chermirinsky advocating hefty use of the filibuster by Democrats. He reasons Democrats can filibuster these nominations forestalling a floor vote indefinitely.
Will the Democrats do this? Will they succeed?
I don't think they will be able to filibuster all of them. I know for sure Pickering would have gotten more than 60 votes on the floor.
Most of these judges will sail through the floor vote. Course, I wouldn't put it past the Dems to try a filibuster - especially the (choke) Conscious of the Senate Robert Byrd...
