Freaking Awesome Link Of The Day

Hey, if you run a blog, pass this one around, okay? If you don't, drop it in some blog-comments or email it around. I felt so damn good when I read this, I wanted everyone else to read it too.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I wish I could think of something more profound to say than "yeah," but, YEAH!!! (Link stolen from Greatest Jeneration.)

For those of you not from Detroit, here's some background:

Most likely the demonstrators are Chaldeans (Catholic Iraqis). The Detroit area is home for probably over 100,000 Chaldeans. It is a community that first settled here probably over 60 years ago. They are well-established and have a solid community that takes care of its own. Some of the most successful people in this area are Chaldean.

An interesting observation Ara but what is your point. Did these people flee to America because of religious persecution in secular Iraq? Do they want Saddam defeated so they can return and establish a Christian sectarian state? Most immigrant communities that have been absent for 60 years from the "homeland" seldom get so demonstrably involved. 60 years would suggest a lot of 2nd and 3rd genereation Americans with probably a dimenished sense of the "homeland." So while I find it interesting - I didn't know that Catholicism was was even present there - I don't understand the significance.
