Some of those comments were more than a bit too maudlin for me--the Hanky Patrol needs to get a grip--but many of the comments were nice.
I also got a little uncomfortable with how many people seem to equate "Britain" with "England." Few Americans get that the Scottish and the Welsh and the Northern Irish are all parts of the British nation as well.
The funniest part, though, was the guy who said, "...the one that touched me the most was your Queen playing our national anthem." I was wondering, was Her Majesty playing a trombone, a tuba, the drums, or what exactly? %-)
I know, I know, I'm being mean. I get misty-eyed now and then at this stuff too, I admit that, but sometimes I wonder if we've turned into a nation of weepy women.
