Diane Moon's got another good one about why what happens in the blogosphere matters.
Blogs won't replace traditional media. And yes, bloggers often take themselves much too seriously. But it remains that when misinformation is published, blogs have increasingly shown that they are a thousand times more effective than angry phone calls or letters. Because we help form a living record, one that can be checked and rechecked and potentially seen by countless people. Besides, people in the press are like anyone else; having one faceless person criticize you is one thing, but seeing your name or your publication all over the place in a publicly humiliating way is another thing indeed.
We're not the most important thing in the world. But we're significant, as are our readers, who are even more important.
Yes, indeed. Blogging matters.
Dean,
You said:

Too seriously? Moi?
Seriously, in the spirit of the season, I'd like to ask your indulgence and forgiveness if I've said or done anything in the past year that has offended or hurt you or your family.

Speaking as Dean's family, I can honestly say that nothing you have said has hurt me...
Offended my patriotism maybe, a little, luckily I don't care much what anyone say's to or about me.
I'm only ever offended by stupidity...
My skin is thick and in general I'm confident that I'm smarter than the average bear...
My only prejudice is against people who are STUPID! I hate Stupid People!
