Speaking of Random Jottings, John Weidner has a pretty good essay about the latest paint-by-numbers rants of Paul Krugman. It's only one of a series. I haven't read them all yet, but this one is even better.
Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth taking guys like Krugman to task. It's sort of like picking on Ann Coulter, Maureen Dowd, or Paul Begala. These people are so myopically party-line, so outright cheap and rockhead ignorant, it seems almost counterproductive to pay them any attention.
I mean, Krugman actually thinks that tax cuts in the '80s caused massive deficits, and that the new Bush tax cuts for "the rich," which haven't even taken effect yet, are responsible for the return of deficit spending. If taking him on isn't like shooting fish in a barrel, I don't know what is. Hello? McFly? Have you looked at the Department of Treasury's own web site lately?
What scares me most is that people take twits like him seriously. It's just another sign of how far down the intellectual ladder the Left has slid. And just how illiberal most so-called "liberals" have become. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...
