Two Directions for Race in America
We've had some interesting discussions on race and race issues recently (see Rosa Parks Laments and Interracial Dating). Now, as seen on Andrew Sullivan's site, we have two remarkably different tales: one from The Washington Post that celebrates integration, and one from the New York Times that celebrates segregation.
When I was growing up in solid Democrat country--Chicago--all my friends considered me a flaming liberal because I thought just like the people in the Washington Post article. Now, even though my views haven't changed appreciably, I'm considered a right-wing extremist. Funny, innit?
