The National Review Online has published a little-noticed series on the wartime leadership record of Winston Churchill. It will not interest everybody. If you have a serious interest in World War II in general and Churchill in specific, the series is worth reading. Strangely, NRO has not promoted the series much on their site, or even put up links that make it easy to find the articles in their order of publication. I so present them here, for anyone interested:
Part One: Churchill Asks a Question
Part Two: A System Man
Part Three: Churchill's Technique
Part Four: Churchill's Art of Interrogation
Part Five: Churchill's Courage
I reiterate: This is for serious history buffs only. If you don't know anything about Churchill's pre-WWII background, or how the British parliamentary system works, who Lord Ismay or General Montgomery were, or what the invasions of northern Africa or France were all about, you'll probably be hopelessly lost. If you do know something about these matters, however, you could do worse things with your time than read this series.
