Saddam’s Buddy Bin Laden

In reading this short Instapundit link, this line stuck out at me:

Saddam offered bin Laden asylum back in 1999 — but given that nowadays a lot of people pretend that any kind of cooperation between Saddam and Al Qaeda is unimaginable, it’s worth pointing out.

That’s quite correct. We know other high-level Al Qaeda operatives also operated with impunity in Saddam’s Iraq. What’s so infuriating about discussions of the Iraq war isn’t arguing with people who say it was a mistake (they’re just wrong, but it’s a defensible position) or that we should get out (which is insane but I can understand it). What infuriates me is when people just keep repeating lies about it that have been debunked time and time again, like the “Saddam and Al Qaeda were sworn enemies” bullcrap.
